I Want to Make You Happy Day is an awesome idea. It is such a challenging thing in life to work on your happiness, much less others. A lot of times, I find that they are one and the same thing. Often, making someone else happy, gives you the ultimate feeling of selflessness and all the feels. Today we are going to celebrate the “I Want to Make You Happy” day in style. Let’s go through some awesome “Happy” gifts to give your friends and family, a free printable for you to use as mantras or giveaway cards, and finally a perfect 10-minute way to celebrate a day of happiness for just you by yourself.

10 Minute Happiness Project

Now what makes you happy may differ from person to person. It may be drawing, or hanging out with your kids, or puppy videos. I, occasionally, like to go down a four-hour rabbit hole watching Ellen give deserving people a bunch of stuff. It usually ends with me crying my eyes out, but it makes me happy to remember that there are good people that do good things in the world. To enjoy happiness, you need to take some time for yourself. But, I fully believe that making others happy is the best way to feel happy yourself. Our ten-minute happiness project has a couple parts:

Write down one thing you will do for someone this week to make them happy. It could be as simple as writing a special note, to paying for someone’s coffee.

One of the biggest things that I love about my boyfriend is his big heart. One night we were in a Chipotle and a CHP officer was behind us. He asked the cashier to pay for his meal. It was a generous gesture and it made such a happiness impact on me, my boyfriend and the officer. So, think about how you can impact someone this week. Stranger, friend, family, doesn’t matter.

Put your happiness pledge on your fridge so that you see it and are reminded of it.

Altogether, making a happiness pledge shouldn’t take you longer than about ten minutes. Commit to making someone happy this week! (And by proxy you). And let’s see those happy pledges! @EventOTB #happypledge.

Free Happy Card Printable

I picked out eight of my favorite happiness quotes and created cards for you guys to download and share. They can be your short little mantras to yourself. Maybe keep them in your purse, car or dresser. Somewhere you will see them, read them and be inspired. Alternatively, you could give them out to friends, family or even strangers. I left one in a library book once, for the next person to find. The idea of these little cards is to inspire and promote happiness for us and everyone else! It only takes a minute to make a smile.

Maybe your one thing to spread happiness is to give them these little happy notes. Enter your email to download these guys for free. You’ll also be a part of the EventOTB party emails with themes, gifts and just for fun content to help you celebrate life!

  1. I love the 10 minute brainstorm for happiness ideas! I’m going to start implementing myself this year and introduce my daughter to it when she turns 3 next spring. It seems like something that can become a good family habit!

    • Hi Katie! Absolutely! Great idea and I love that you’re sharing with your daughter. Hopefully it helps her grow up happy! 🙂

  2. I love this! You never know how much doing little things like that will help someone out. I went to cafe rio one night close to Christmas time because my daughter loves the place but my husband and I had been low on money but had just enough to go. There was a group of police there in front of us. When we got to the register, the cashier told us the woman cop had paid $25 toward our meal which was pretty much the whole bill! It meant the world to us! She didnt know our money situation or anything, she didnt even talk to us, just paid our meal. So now, anytime we have some money, we try to give to someone else. You never know how powerful your generosity can be to someone else.

    • Hi Julie! That is a great story! Isn’t it wonderful when you least expect it. Also, I LOVE Cafe Rio too. Thanks for sharing your story!
