It’s Shark Awareness Day! I feel like we are all aware of sharks, but maybe we can change it to Shark Appreciation? And what a better way to appreciate the carnivorous, toothy wonders than a shark bite cocktail and shot. We all know and love JAWS, our favorite, scary, malfunctioning shark. So, I propose, that we make this cocktail and watch Jaws. IN THE POOL. It is summer, after all. A girl can dream.

The Shark Bite Cocktail

Here’s what you’ll need: glass, ice, tequila, blue curacao, Sprite, shark/fish gummies, grenadine, cherry vodka

Ok, first let’s set up your drink. I found this funky glass shape at a craft store in the floral department! Who knew. Fill your glass with ice and then place fish and shark gummies throughout. I got my gummies from Trader Joe’s.

Next, you’ll want to add in your tequila. That will be one ounce of tequila to be exact. (I used Jose Cuervo). Sprite is the next step. You can add anywhere from three ounces to six ounces. I added three at first and ended up topping off my drink, so you could always do it that way. The last of the liquor is the blue curacao. Add an ounce of this on the top. Stir to get your drink the nice ocean color. Make sure you have a big enough glass for this project. You still need some room at the top.

The Shark Bite Shot

For the shark bite shot you can just pour your ingredients into a shot glass. Start with half an ounce of grenadine. Then layer in cherry flavored vodka. (I used Smirnoff). It helps if you have a shot glass with measurements on the side. I got mine at Bevmo. That’s it! Simple little shot.

The Shark Attack

To complete your drink, just dump in that shark bite shot and enjoy! Your blue drink will turn purple-ish and will taste like fruity-liquored-goodness. You have the lemon lime from the Sprite, orange from the blue curacao, and cherry from the vodka…….and plenty of liquor. It’s a fun summer drink with a shark twist.

Obviously, this drink is super fun to make and consume with friends. Maybe even out in the sun at a pool party…..just saying. Also, fun fact, I never knew what blue curacao tasted like….it’s orange! Super excited about that one. Ok, now I’m just rambling. Go make your shark cocktail and shot. Also, sign up for the email list.
