Fourth of July is a time for patriotic celebration, hot dogs, stars, stripes, bbq, music and more! Whether you’re having a party inside or outdoors, making a fun and festive Fourth of July centerpiece is a must. This DIY centerpiece for Fourth of July has some simple materials and takes less than ten minutes to put together. It’s fun and makes a bright and colorful impact for your patriotic red, white, and blue decorations on your dining table or party table! Keep reading below for a full tutorial.

What You’ll Need

Things you need for your Fourth of July centerpiece are:

  • Tall Glass or Plastic Container/Vase
  • Red, White and Blue Styrofoam Stars
  • Floral Foam
  • String or Floss
  • Red, White and Blue Styrofoam glitter balls
  • Red, White and Blue floral pick that looks like fireworks

I got all of these materials at Hobby Lobby. You can find them there. You can probably get similar items at any craft store as well. The glass container I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby, but other places to look for vases are Walmart, Dollar Tree, Ikea, Michael’s and even your local grocery store.

Putting Together Your Fourth of July Centerpiece

Putting this together is fairly simple and quick, but I do have some tips! First off, we are going to start by cutting your floral foam. Now, to cut this, it works best for me with string. I used embroidery floss because that’s what I had around. But, you can use wire, dental floss or any kind of string you have. When you cut the foam, it will be uneven, and that’s ok! You’re going to cover around it. The whole point of the foam is to take up space in the vase, so you don’t have to fill the whole thing with Styrofoam balls. And, you can stick your toppers in it too. It doesn’t have to be perfect.

Next, fill around your floral foam with the Styrofoam balls. I used a long pick from the stars to help push any balls down that needed rearranging. No glue or adhesive is necessary! Fill it all the way up so that you can’t see the floral foam anymore. This only took one package for me, so that’s good! It will just depend on how big your vase is.

Then, you are going to add in your toppers. I started with the floral pick that looks like fireworks. I wanted that one to stick up the highest. They are supposed to be fireworks! Place your stick into the floral foam to keep it sturdy. The nice thing is, if you place it in crooked (which I did the first time), you can pull it out and try again! Keep going until you like the placement.

Finally, you’re going to add in your stars. Same process, place them into the floral foam and pull them up to varying heights. I like to stagger the height of each for visual interest. But, you can line them up if you want! It’s your Fourth of July Centerpiece, so get creative. The final product looks like this:
