When I found out there was such a thing as Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day, it immediately made me think of one of my favorite poems from childhood: Bleezer’s Ice Cream by Jack Prelutzsky. I found this poem in fifth grade when I was searching for a poem to recite in front of the class. Of course, it was required to have a visual aide. So, I ended up drawing out all these different funky flavors on a poster. (Talk about commitment. I had a lot more patience and energy then….) The poem features a ridiculous combination of some of your favorite (cookie) and least favorite (chop suey) flavors to be put in ice cream.
Besides being a fun, ridiculous, whimsical fantasy poem, it definitely brings back the nostalgia of childhood and ice cream shops! So, it’s only appropriate that on Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day, I do an ode to Ebeneezer Bleezer and his ice cream store. The items on this list are pulled from the original poem (with a few extras). For the record, my ice cream flavor is Sukiyaki Pizza Pickle……ew.
