We’ve all seen those amazing milkshakes or cocktails with all kinds of crazy things topping them! The best part about this type of drink/food, is that you can be creative!! The most amazing freakshake I’ve seen had things like an entire slice of cheesecake on top. You can see some great examples on Pinterest here. If you like recipes, a great book would be the Craft Burger and Crazy Shake cookbook.

I went a little more simple with mine. Most of the items, in fact, I got at good old Walmart. I LOOOOOOOVE Peeps. I have a problem and I’m willing to admit it. On the blog, there’s also a post about creating Peeps themed Easter baskets. But for this post, I’m focusing on the Peeps themed freakshake!

What you’ll need: milk, vanilla ice cream, ice, whipped cream, vanilla icing, sprinkles, wood skewers, cotton candy, PEEPS!, hostess spring cupcake, chocolate bunny, jelly beans or Reese’s Eggs

First thing’s first, let’s prep the cup. I used a mason jar. It’s just the easiest to put icing on, since it has the ridges at the top. It also will keep your milkshake cold longer, since it’s thick glass. And, hold A LOT of milkshake, which, let’s face it, is our goal. BIG MILKSHAKE. But, use what you have! Or you can pick up a mason jar at your grocery store or Walmart/Target.

I just bought Pillsbury cake icing. It came with a pack of sprinkles on top (two birds, one stone). I actually used a spoon to spread the icing around the top of the jar. It’s curves make it easy to swirl the icing around the top. Then (messy part) use your hands and start putting those sprinkles on! I used one hand to drop sprinkles down and the other to push them up against the icing. It was messy. But #worthit.

Now that our mason jar is prepped, time to put together our skewer. You can pile the goodies up however you want to! I used the cupcake as the base, then put the Peeps on top. Have fun with it. I also took the chocolate bunny and put that guy on a skewer. This way it will stand up without tipping over.

Tip: Buy candy and Peeps that all have a similar color palate. This will make it look very pleasing to the eye and, of course, themed.

It’s finally milkshake time! It’s pretty simple. Mix your ice cream, ice cubes and milk together. If your milkshake is too watery, add ice cream. If it’s too think, add water. Re-blend. You can use any milkshake recipe from the internet. The key ingredient here is Peeps! I added three pink Peeps to give a marshmallow flavor and for color. I also used vanilla bean ice cream, which tasted great.

Tip: If you want to take it to the next (adult) level, add in some marshmallow vodka!

Once blended to your liking, pour your milkshake inside your mason jar. Top it with some whipped cream. Finally, pop your cotton candy on the very top and gently place jelly beans. The last step is to add in your skewers. Now your Easter Peeps Freakshake is ready!!
